To act as the senior electrical authority across new store builds, refits, and planned works, taking full responsibility for electrical safety, UK regulatory compliance, quality, and consistency, while leading electrical delivery within agreed project programmes.

This is a senior leadership trade role within the Projects team. The Head Electrician is accountable for all electrical standards across the estate, ensuring installations are safe, compliant with UK legislation and standards, and fit for high-demand coffee shop operations. The role is project-led, with P1 support provided only when deliberately directed.

Key Responsibilities;



Project Delivery & Electrical Installation- Lead and deliver all electrical installations for new store builds and major refits- Own electrical scope delivery within wider project programmes- Plan and coordinate containment, power, lighting, data, and specialist systems- Ensure installations are robust, maintainable, and suitable for high-load commercial environments- Coordinate electrical works with plumbing, joinery, and equipment installation activities

Testing, UK Compliance & Certification- Ensure all electrical works comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and UK statutory requirements- Carry out and oversee Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC), Minor Works Certificates, and EICRs- Oversee fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839 and emergency lighting in line with BS 5266- Manage and conduct PAT testing in accordance with UK best practice and HSE guidance- Maintain complete and accurate UK-compliant testing, inspection, and certification records

Quality, Standards & Continuous Improvement- Set and maintain high electrical installation and finish standards- Identify recurring electrical faults or design issues and feed back to the Architect and Projects team- Support improvements to standard layouts, load calculations, and specifications- Reduce post-handover electrical defects through proactive quality control

Health, Safety & Site Leadership- Act as the senior electrical safety representative on site- Review, challenge, and comply with RAMS and safe systems of work- Enforce safe isolation, testing, and commissioning procedures in line with UK H&S regulations- Immediately escalate safety risks, non-compliance, or unsafe practices

Team Leadership & External Specialists- Lead, mentor, and develop electricians and electrical subcontractors- Allocate work and manage electrical labour resources across projects- Appoint and manage NICEIC / ECA registered specialist electrical contractors where required- Maintain personal and professional UK electrical licences, registrations, and accreditations

Planned & Reactive Works Interface- Deliver planned electrical remedial and upgrade works (P2 / P3)- Support P1 emergency electrical issues only when directed by the Head of Shop Projects- Lead fault-finding and root-cause analysis for recurring electrical issues

Coordination, Documentation & Stakeholder Liaison- Liaise with relevant stakeholders on electrical constraints and approvals- Support the Architect with UK compliance information and statutory submissions- Maintain clear electrical drawings, schedules, and as-built documentation

Experience



- Fully qualified electrician with UK-recognised qualifications- Current knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)- Experience issuing EICs, Minor Works Certificates, and EICRs- Experience with BS 5839 fire alarms and BS 5266 emergency lighting- NICEIC, NAPIT, or ECA registration (preferred)- Proven experience leading electrical works on retail or hospitality projects- Demonstrable leadership and team management experience- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality- Willingness to travel between sites as required
