Gardener Care Homes - Mansfield Care Group

Location:

Borders, expanding to Edinburgh and the Lothians

Salary up to:

30,000 per annum

The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Gardenerto oversee the gardens across our care homes in the Borders, with expansion into Edinburgh and the Lothians. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, accessible, and therapeutic for residents and staff. This is a hands-on role with management responsibility for one other gardener.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all gardening activities across multiple sites. Supervise and support one other gardener, ensuring high standards of horticultural practice and teamwork. Plan, plant, and maintain gardens to create attractive, therapeutic environments for residents. Organise schedules, order materials, and liaise with care home managers and residents. Ensure all work meets the highest standards of safety, tidiness, and creativity. Communicate clearly with colleagues and residents; keep accurate records (fluent written English required). Travel between sites is a requirement; a full clean UK driving licence is essential.

What We're Looking For:

Excellent horticultural knowledge (plant and pest identification, pruning, plant care). Strong leadership and motivational skills. Exceptional attention to detail and creativity. Punctual, tidy, and practical with good "common sense." Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and travel between sites. References required.
