Overall management of sustainable food growing within the Trust regions and collaborating with colleagues to guide the regional approach to fruit & vegetable production.
This is a physically demanding hand-on role which will require a flexible work approach. The job is based outdoors in all weathers and will be physically demanding. Lead the delivery of organic field & protected cropping, in the context of a thriving commercial growing enterprise, and having oversight of the ornamental walled garden. This includes assisting in the effective delivery of annual crop plans to deliver field-scale horticulture and polytunnel cultivation for the region your responsible for. Collaborating with horticultural staff within other trust sites in the region giving a regional oversight to sustainable food production.
This position plays a crucial role in championing the trusts environmental credentials, ensuring our communities are exemplars in sustainable land management, and that horticultural Green Care enterprises have the facilities and tasks needed, ensuring the timely completion of works and ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.

Essential:
Certificate of competence or higher for tractor operation Full driving licence, trailer (BE) would be an advantage.
formal horticultural qualification such as a degree.
At least 5 years' experience in horticulture, preferably with organic experience.
Experience running 'no-dig' gardens
Technologically literate
Experience in managing a team of staff - including recruitment and training
Sound record keeping, both physical data and financial planning, budgeting and interpretation of actuals.
Desirable:
Qualifications in bushcutter and chainsaw operation - CS30 & 31.

Financially competent, ready to take responsibility for budgeting and benchmarking financial performance
Progressive and keen to embrace new techniques
Enthusiastic about ELMs, new environmental schemes, soil management and an interest in carbon auditing.
Willing to work with, engage, and be sympathetic to the wider team managing a traditional estate.
