Head Housekeeper Nursing Home Permanent Full-time

Pay and hours

Pay: 13.50 to 14.50 per hour depending on experience.
Full-time, permanent.
Location: Glasgow G53 7TG. Free on-site parking and accessible by public transport.

About the role

We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team and raise environmental standards across the home. This is a practical role for someone who enjoys being present on the floor, leading by example, and supporting the team to deliver consistently high standards in resident bedrooms and shared areas.

Key responsibilities

Work alongside the housekeeping team daily, leading by example and maintaining a visible presence on the floor.
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation in resident bedrooms, en-suites, corridors, and communal areas.
Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance the look, feel, and cleanliness of the home.
Uphold Infection Prevention and Control standards and safe use of cleaning products in line with relevant Scottish guidance.
Complete regular quality checks, follow up actions promptly, and record outcomes where required.
Train, mentor, and motivate staff, supporting good routines, organisation, and pride in the environment.
Work collaboratively with care, nursing, kitchen, and activities teams to support the wider resident experience.
Manage stock levels of cleaning materials, linens, and equipment efficiently and within budget.

What we are looking for

Previous housekeeping leadership experience. Care home experience is desirable, but experience from hotels or similar environments is also welcomed.
A practical leader who is comfortable setting standards, coaching staff, and dealing with issues as they arise.
Strong attention to detail, high personal standards, and a consistent approach.
Good communication skills and a positive, supportive team approach.
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including some weekends.
