Job Description

A BIT ABOUT FLOCK

At Flock we do insurance very differently. We're nearing 1 billion connected, insured miles.

Meaning our real-time, data-driven approach enables us to price connected vehicle insurance and assess risk better than ever before, giving fleet owners the insights they need to improve safety. We don't just pay claims; we help our customers prevent them. We now insure hundreds of fleets in the UK, including the likes of JLR and Amazon, as well as fleets that work for DPD, Uber and Bolt.

We've now raised over 50M and our goal is to become the leading insurance company for connected and autonomous vehicles, and we're building a world-class team to help us get there.

THE ROLE

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of pricing and risk at one of the most innovative companies in commercial insurance. A LITTLE MORE ON WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You'll lead a small team, guiding them both technically and commercially. The role is hands-on and high-impact: you'll dive deep into models, validate others' work, explore new data sources, and build the risk management systems for the safety team. You'll expand our pricing capabilities into new markets, work closely with underwriting to communicate our approach, and help develop innovative solutions for emerging risks. You'll also collaborate with our tech and product teams to ensure your team has access to the data and tools they need to continuously refine our models and deliver value-added insights that help customers operate more safely.

You are able to help people grow, not just technically but also commercially. You can think strategically while rolling your sleeves and diving into models. You know when to think long term, and articulate multi-year strategy plans, but you're also able to write new algorithms, or thoroughly scrutinise models created by other actuaries. You have worked in the motor space, and have experience building models with telematics data.
