The Vacancy
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Assurance and Strategic Advisor to lead the development and growth of WRc technical assurance services, in the UK and internationally with particular focus on the Middle East and European markets. The role will include international travel, especially in the Middle East working at our site in Oman.
The successful candidate will be a passionate individual with a strong track record in the water sector, with both regulatory and water utility experience.
You will be an experienced leader and knowledgeable in regulatory reporting and economic regulation, cost modelling, financial analysis and dealing with strategic planning and regulatory reporting. You will have the ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders effectively from governments, regulators, and senior managers from water utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership

  • Take a leading role in the development and maintenance of client relationships in the UK and internationally with particular focus on the Middle East and European markets.
  • Provide leadership for the team within WRc, leading and contributing to a creative and compassionate community to deliver high calibre outputs.
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully deliver projects to high standards, within budgets and time and with positive client feedback.
  • Provide experience of managing staff directly, and take ownership of your team and functions to ensure a healthy sales pipeline is maintained, to provide continuity of work across the team.
Innovation
  • Maintain a deep understanding of both the evolving business needs and potential solutions to sector challenges and how innovative approaches relate to a win-win for clients and the business
  • Work with technical specialists to help develop the vision and strategy, providing thought leadership to the sectors we work in
  • Recognises and exploits business opportunities in the UK and internationally
Organisation
  • Assess and review project delivery to identify opportunities for improvements in performance focussing on customer satisfaction, performance consistency and reliability.
  • Work closely with the technical community to ensure the appropriate platforms and systems are in place to support the community.
  • Manage the recruitment process for staff in conjunction with senior team, to maintain a high calibre team that can meet the needs of the business.
Person Specification:
  • A compassionate and dynamic leadership style, able to take onboard input from a range of stakeholders.
  • Educated to degree level in a scientific, engineering or technical discipline
  • Evidence of a growth mindset and an inquisitive and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Successful delivery of consultancy projects and services in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills, and an ability to adapt communication style to effectively communicate complex message to different audiences.
  • Must be able to travel internationally.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Up to 380,000 based on experience
