As we expand our reach across markets and user segments, we're looking for a strategic and results-oriented Head of Business Development to help drive our next phase of growth.
Role Overview
As the Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for leading the commercial growth strategy of SSV SmartPay. You will identify and develop new business opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and drive the revenue pipeline across key market verticals including SMEs, e-commerce, digital platforms, and enterprise clients. This role is both strategic and hands-on, ideal for a fintech-savvy professional with a deep understanding of digital payments, regulatory frameworks, and scaling commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute the go-to-market and growth strategy aligned with SSV SmartPay's vision.
Partnership Development: Identify and engage key partners (e.g. banks, PSPs, aggregators, fintech platforms, enterprise clients) to expand platform reach and capability.
Market Expansion: Lead entry into new markets or verticals by identifying gaps, assessing demand, and tailoring solutions accordingly.
Revenue Growth: Own business development KPIs, track pipeline performance, and build a scalable and sustainable revenue stream.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Marketing, Compliance, and Tech teams to ensure business opportunities are supported by product features and operational capacity.
Thought Leadership: Represent SSV SmartPay at industry events, forums, and panels to promote the brand and establish credibility within the payments ecosystem.
Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing business development team as the business scales.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in business development or strategic partnerships, with at least 3 years in the fintech or digital payments space.
Strong understanding of the digital payments landscape, including cards, wallets, open banking, merchant services, and regulatory compliance (e.g., FCA, PSD2).
Demonstrated success in closing large deals, forming B2B partnerships, or launching market expansion initiatives.
Strong analytical, commercial, and strategic thinking skills.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Experience working in high-growth, startup or scale-up environments is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA is a plus.
