Romac Logistics are currently recruiting for a Head of Central Planning & Optimisation to join our team based in Middleton, Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:







Strategic Planning & Forecasting


Develop and own the organisation's endtoend planning framework, including demand forecasting, capacity planning, and longrange modelling.

Translate business strategy into actionable operational plans with clear KPIs and performance expectations.

Lead scenario planning and risk modelling to support strategic decisionmaking.

Operational Optimisation


Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance service performance across departments.

Implement optimisation initiatives using data analytics, process mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Drive standardisation of planning processes, tools, and reporting across the business.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management


Lead, mentor, and develop a highperforming planning and optimisation team.

Partner with senior leaders to align planning outputs with commercial, operational, and customer objectives.

Communicate insights, forecasts, and recommendations clearly to executive stakeholders.

Data, Systems & Reporting


Oversee the development of dashboards, reporting suites, and analytical tools that support realtime decisionmaking.

Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and governance across planning systems.

Champion the use of technology and automation to enhance planning capability.



Skills & Experience Required:







Proven experience in a senior planning, forecasting, or optimisation role -- ideally within operations, logistics, manufacturing, retail, or service environments.

Strong leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop teams.

Advanced analytical skills with expertise in forecasting models, capacity planning, and performance optimisation.

Excellent communication and stakeholdermanagement abilities.

Experience with planning tools, TMS systems, BI platforms, and data visualisation software.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost, service, and operational constraints.

Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies beneficial).
