Head of Content Development
Salary: Up to 50K per annum dependent on experience, plus company benefits

Location: 18 Central Avenue, St Andrews Business Park, Norwich NR7 OHR
Contract: Permanent, full time

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week worked Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch

Purpose of the Role
We're looking for a skilled and inspiring Head of Content Development to lead a

group of content development experts and editors, as one coordinated team.

You will be responsible for delivery of our publishing schedule, across all clients - managing, prioritising and supporting projects across the team within time, cost and quality thresholds.

Alongside ensuring delivery of the publishing schedule, you will use your creativity, innovative thinking and commercial acumen to identify new product opportunities which meet the needs of users and the demands of a fast-paced, digital-first publishing environment.

You will be responsible for setting our editorial standards and ensuring these are maintained across all outputs. You will manage our editorial services, and work closely with in-house editors and external editorial specialists.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and ManagementOversee content and product development, content commissioning, and editorial delivery across all formats Lead, mentor, and support the team to identify and deliver new content opportunities across print and digital formats (including print, ePub, e-learning and mobile apps) Manage workloads and schedules to ensure effective prioritisation and smooth delivery across multiple projects Provide an effective point of escalation

Content and Product DevelopmentOversee the development of engaging, market-relevant products from concept to publication Support the team in identifying new content ideas and commissioning authors, contributors, and freelancers - including onboarding and contract negotiation Maintain effective workflows that support delivery across both print and digital formats, with quality assurance checkpoints built in Work closely with other functional teams to ensure the development of products which are fit for purpose

Editorial OversightUphold the highest editorial standards, ensuring all content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with our style guides Allocate work and supervise in-house and freelance editorial activity, acting as the escalation point for complex editorial queries and ensuring high quality thresholds are met Develop editorial processes for digital-first product development

Operational and Process ManagementMonitor production timelines, budgets and deliverables, ensuring publishing projects are completed on time and within scope Work with colleagues in design, marketing, and sales to coordinate production schedules and ensure seamless handovers Review and improve processes and systems to enhance operational excellence, team efficiency, and quality and quantity of output

Client RelationshipBuild strong working relationships with key client contacts, developing a deep understanding of their strategy, priorities and audiences Act as a credible representative of the business in client meetings and presentations, showcasing our editorial and content development capabilities Support the team in presenting new content ideas, concepts, and publishing solutions to clients, ensuring alignment with their strategic goals Collaborate with business directors and account directors to ensure expectations are met and deliverables exceed quality standards

Skills & CompetenciesExperience in editorial and content development roles Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team Strong understanding of editorial and content development processes and workflows for print and digital - with experience refining workflows for improved efficiency and output Excellent editorial judgement and attention to detail, with a track record of delivering high-quality content Strong organisational and project management abilities, with an ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines Confident working across teams and managing relationships with clients, authors, and freelancers Awareness of trends and innovations in publishing, and a curiosity about new content opportunities formats
