The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to lead the UK Parliament\'s technical cyber security team. You will be instrumental in our mission to protect parliamentary democracy from fear of interference or attack from adversaries. Together we must balance security and transparency while protecting high-profile targets.

The work is fast paced and ever-evolving, as the cyber security threat constantly evolves and grows. This means every day is different, across a broad remit - from monitoring and detection, through vulnerability management, to threat intelligence and forensics. Your responsibilities will include:

  • leading the development of technology and capability strategies, providing thought leadership on future trends and tech
  • leading on offensive cyber and cyber intelligence strategies, to develop defence and gain assurance on systems
  • building relationships and stakeholder networks, to become the primary point of contact on cyber security issues with key partners
  • cultivating, directing and inspiring talent, enabling the cyber security team to operate more effectively and efficiently
  • leading on Cyber Security Operations Centre capability and maturation, through the development of standards, policies and a comprehensive training programme
What You Need

With proven cyber experience, you understand the nature of the combined risk we face: threats which are beyond our control and designed to exploit vulnerabilities. Your technical understanding - from network configurations, to security-by-design - equips you to identify both challenges and solutions. Crucially, you also have a flair for communicating risks and threats to a non-technical audience. We are looking for:
  • a track record in cyber security leadership, strategy development and planning
  • skills in applying and championing protective security concepts and controls
  • working knowledge of applying tactical and strategic threat information to planning and prioritisation
  • experience of managing the response to cyber incidents and building resilience through preparation
  • the ability to develop a cost-effective approach to risk management, informed by an understanding of corporate governance, strategic direction and business drivers
  • the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK
