The role
We are in the market to find a senior and internationally experienced manager to build and lead our new Project Management and Design function within Ramboll Transport. This team will be located within the Major Projects Spearhead. The aim is to find a suitable candidate to fulfil the position of Head of Department who is capable of bringing the best of their international experience into our organisation, to manage, lead and grow this team to execute the largest projects within Ramboll Transport. The role will be to create, lead and grow a Project and Design Management function to service a broad range of large infrastructure projects with the capabilities of a traditional PMO team but with design management included.
The role is aimed at facilitating both Project and Technical Directors in their work and translating the protocols, procedures and best practice of Ramboll to deliver the largest infrastructure projects in the consulting and engineering space for both Client side (Owners Engineers) and Design and Build (Contractor) projects.
Your team will be part of the Major Projects Spearhead with teams presently in Finland, Denmark and the UK delivering some of the most complex projects on the market. But you will work collaboratively with the wider transport unit, 4000+ team members, to support delivery of Ramboll Transport projects. You will be asked for your experience, passion, perspective, energy, enthusiasm and connections to help us in our evolution journey.
As our Major Projects - Head of Department PMD you will be given a broad mandate to support existing and future engineering and design major projects and key Transport initiatives.
The role is to be based in Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, London or Dublin (but location can be discussed). Short term international travel is to be expected as is reasonable with a senior position of this nature.

Major Project Spearhead project portfolio management
Working with top management and corporate stakeholders for the development of the new function
Team growth, development, leadership, strategy and execution
Large Transport projects management, oversight and mentoring
Project Pipeline and Orderbook growth
Commercial and Project management of key projects
To inspire, motivate and engage with our employees, partners and customers through inclusive leadership, and with natural drive and curiosity
Collaborating with leaders across the company to support strong collaboration and ensure resource allocation for the benefit of our employees and clients' projects
Active participation in innovation, automation and digitalization within our existing and future service areas
About our ideal candidate:
Strong demonstratable and international experience with roles held in senior positions for engineering, design, Owner and Contractors working on major infrastructure and transport projects
Ideally has PMO or PMD experience in working and establishing an international and remotely operating function
Ideally has civil infrastructure experience
Very good communication skills in written and spoken English with language skills in a Scandinavian language or German also viewed positively
M.Sc. in Engineering discipline is viewed positively
Affiliation and memberships with professional bodies such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) Institution of Civil Engineers, and or similarly recognised qualifications within the industry
Documented experience as a project manager and personnel management from a consulting company, utility or authority
A strong passion for creating sustainable solutions
Enthusiastic about developing the employees and managers of the future
Great business understanding
