Are you a passionate and experienced marketing professional looking to make a direct impact on the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals? We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Deputy Director of Marketing to play a crucial leadership role within our volunteer team.
Working closely with the Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for overseeing all digital content creation, publication, and maintenance on the main website, ensuring it is accurate, accessible, engaging, and reflective of Pride in London's brand and mission. This role involves leading a small volunteer team, driving traffic, and ensuring the website serves as the primary and authoritative source of information for the annual event, community news, and partner initiatives. This is a critical leadership role that directly impacts how millions experience and engage with Pride in London.
Your Responsibilities
The Head of Digital Content will be responsible for the following key areas:
Website Strategy and Oversight: Develop and execute the annual content strategy for the Pride in London website, ensuring timely and accurate information delivery about the parade, events, and community initiatives.
Content Management and Governance: Oversee the day-to-day management of the website (built on a platform like WordPress or similar CMS), ensuring site health, security, and continuous content quality assurance.
Lead a Volunteer Team: Recruit, manage, and mentor a small team of volunteer content writers, editors, and web administrators, setting clear objectives and project timelines.
SEO and Accessibility: Drive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) efforts and ensure the website adheres to the highest WCAG accessibility standards and best practices for all users.
Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website performance using tools like Google Analytics, providing regular reports on traffic, user behaviour, and conversion metrics to inform strategic decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between the Marketing team and other directorates (e.g., Parade, Operations, Fundraising) to gather information and publish up-to-date, integrated content
What you'll bring to Pride in London
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic, technical, and leadership skills, including:
Expertise in Content Management Systems (CMS): Extensive, hands-on experience managing and maintaining large-scale websites, ideally using WordPress or a similar platform.
Digital Strategy and Planning: Proven ability to define and deliver a successful website content strategy and editorial calendar.
Team Leadership and Management: Experience successfully leading, motivating, and delegating tasks to a volunteer or staff team.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO): Deep understanding of on-page and technical SEO best practices to maximise organic reach.
Web Accessibility (WCAG): Strong commitment to and knowledge of web accessibility standards to ensure inclusivity for all users.
Exceptional Copywriting and Editing: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and brand voice.
Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines under pressure.
Basic HTML/CSS Knowledge: Familiarity with basic front-end coding for troubleshooting or minor design tweaks is highly desirable.

Although a lot of our work is completed remotely, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet with your team and others throughout the year to not only plan what's ahead but to socialise too.

Pride in London is run in majority by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and diversity. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and any surplus funds we raise are used to support the LGBTQ+ communities and improve the event.
Pride in London includes people of every race and faith, whether disabled or able-bodied, and all sexualities and genders including lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, questioning, intersex, trans*, genderqueer, gender variant or non-binary as well as straight and cis allies.
