The Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) is the most clinically facing Faculty at UCL and is at the forefront of innovation and research in the medical sciences. The UCL Medical School partners with a wide variety of NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers to deliver the programme, with the main partners being UCLH, The Royal Free Hospital and The Whittington Hospital.
The post holder will be a member of the Faculty Education Administration and Student Experience team who work together to support all our students and education activities.
About the role

This important post provides high-level support for the effective operation of the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) programme, promoting quality review, continuous improvement and innovation. Working at the intersection of strategy, delivery, and governance, the post holder will lead on the development of operational frameworks and introduction of innovations to support programme improvement.
The main duties include leadership of the professional services team (~40 staff) responsible for MBBS administration and delivery. Acting as part of the MBBS Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for strategy, policy and academic management. Developing and managing regulatory frameworks, governance structures and policies specific to the MBBS. Overseeing the development and review of contracts and service level agreements with NHS Placement Providers. Working in collaboration with the Faculty Digital Education Team to ensure systems best support medical student records and MBBS programme and placement management and in collaboration with the Faculty Student Experience Team to ensure optimal student experience.

The post is graded at GRADE 9, the annual salary for which ranges from 68,284 to 74,166 (including London Allowance).
The appointment is available from April 2026 and is a permanent position.

You will have significant experience of leadership and management within HE administration, including management of staff and resources, building teams and promoting excellence in administration and support services. You will have experience and knowledge of medical degree administration, or of another regulated healthcare programme, including teaching, learning and assessment methodology. You will have demonstrable experience of strategic planning, creating governance frameworks, policy and contract development and of liaising with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will have proven leadership of large multi-disciplinary professional-services/ administrative teams.
