Job summary




We are currently recruiting for a

Head of Engagement

for our

Cereal & Oilseeds

sector to work nationally across the UK and manage a field-based team. Flexibility to travel is essential along with a full UK driving licence.


This key role is responsible for developing and delivering knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement activities for the Cereal & Oilseeds sector, ensuring strong connections with technical research disciplines and other AHDB functions to provide value for levy payers.


We are looking for an experienced people manager with deep expertise in the Cereal & Oilseeds sector, who has successfully led teams to achieve impactful outcomes while maintaining a strong profile and relationships with key external stakeholders. Experience in planning and executing events and engagement activities is highly desirable.

Job description



Work closely with the sector council and Sector Director to ensure successful delivery of the Cereal & Oilseeds strategy and AHDB business plan while maintaining and developing partnerships with key stakeholders Provide strategic leadership for activities covering knowledge exchange within the Cereals & Oilseeds sector, ensuring that sector expertise and engagement is maintained and enhanced Provide operational and line management within the team, and work with relevant directors to ensure the Engagement team are integrated Ensure a coordinated approach to the creation and delivery of levy-payer-facing activity, materials, tools and messages to deliver benefits for the sector Successfully deliver strategic programmes, meetings and associated initiatives, ensuring effective evaluation of delivery and financial management Develop and maintain a positive profile and connection with the sector, providing industry representation Support the Sector Director with a strong understanding of the industry landscape and its challenges, championing the sector externally and internally while always providing a high level of support and delivery Ensure cross-sector working opportunities are identified and operating efficiencies and sharing of best practice are delivered Provide proactive feedback mechanisms from levy-payer-facing activity which feed into AHDB priorities and strategy

Person specification



Extensive experience of working with and understanding of key aspects of the Cereal & Oilseeds industry, along with a relevant degree or qualification in an agricultural or related discipline (basis and facts also desirable) Proven people manager with a track record of building a strong team spirit Skilled communicator with extensive experience of writing and presenting to high levels of industry status Ability to think strategically with experience of developing and delivering strategic plans Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK Previous experience working with government agencies and commercial organisations to develop business opportunities Experience of managing significant budgets to high levels of governance
