Key Responsibilities
Estate Management
1. To have overall responsibility for the management of the School's estate, including the maintenance of buildings and grounds, site security and health & safety;
2. To manage the operations budget and authorise payments, providing the Bursar and Headmaster with regular updates;
3. To prepare and maintain a detailed rolling 3-year, fully costed, maintenance and planned works plan. This should include the external and internal fabric and finishes, mechanical and electrical services and infrastructure and, where appropriate, advice from consultants. Any plans will need to link in to the School's strategic development plan;
4. To be responsible for the project management of any capital expenditure projects, including seeking necessary planning consents; procurement of contractors, schedules of work, insurances & liabilities and expenditure to budget;
5. To undertake regular scrutiny of utility expenditure and usage with due regard to cost and the environment;
6. To oversee the letting of premises and management of staff accommodation;
7. To be responsible for the overall management of the School's fleet, ensuring compliance with statutory regulation.
Health & Safety Management
8. To act as the Fire Safety Officer for the School and in conjunction with Bursar and external advisors, maintain and review fire risk assessments, fire risk management checks and ensure that appropriate training is planned and recorded appropriately;
9. In conjunction with the Bursar, to oversee Health & Safety policy and management including chairing the Health & Safety Committee;
10. In conjunction with the Bursar, to play a leading role in training and keeping all staff briefed in matters relating to Health & Safety;
11. To update or create policies relating to areas of responsibility.
Risk Management
12. To ensure that operational risks including site security, health & safety and risks to business interruption and continuity are proactively and effectively identified, evaluated, controlled and managed.

Requirements
Essential:
Educated to Degree level in a suitable discipline, or qualified through experience
Previous experience in a management role
Experience in Estate management, Health and Safety and Transport Management
Experience of managing outsourced services
Strong Leadership skills with proven experience of developing strong professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Good commercial acumen
Competent report-writing skills
Good time management
An ability to pro-actively but constructively challenge and question the status quo
The ability to use available resources effectively in delivering operational objectives within agreed deadlines
The ability to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues throughout the school
A desire to strive for continual improvement
A creative problem-solving attitude to tasks with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Desirable:
A suitable postgraduate qualification e.g. project management or Health & Safety or Professional Status e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA or BIFM/IWFM or IOSH membership.
Experience working in the Education sector
Experience of estate maintenance, planning and development
Experience of procurement and outsourcing contracts
Previous experience of preparing for and undertaking Inspections
Experience and understanding of building systems, legislation and service requirements
What We Offer
37.5-hour full time working week
Salary of 50,000 to 60,000 FTE, depending on experience
35 days annual leave each year, 8 days of which must be taken at Christmas during school closure and the remaining days outwith term-time
