Interim Head of Facilities Management
Based in London - 4 days on site
Length: 6 months initially

We are seeking an experienced Head of Facilities Management to lead the Council's Hard and Soft FM services, ensuring high-quality, safe, compliant and financially efficient operations across all Council workplaces. You will lead a multi-disciplinary FM team delivering cleaning, security, post and courier services, porterage, space planning, moves and changes, and workplace support.
Key Responsibilities include:

• Lead all Hard and Soft FM services to deliver a safe, compliant and efficient working environment
• Oversee FM budgets through robust monitoring, reporting and a zero-based budgeting approach
• Develop and implement procurement and whole life-cycle contract management strategies
• Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across all buildings, including risk assessments, permits to work and safety documentation
• Lead the development of a new Hard FM service model and create operational plans for ongoing compliance and improvements
• Act as Responsible Person for key safety areas (Legionella, electrical, lifts, pressure systems)
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders, including contributions to major projects such as Civic Campus regeneration and soft-landing planning

Experience and knowledge required:

• A proven track record of managing complex Hard and Soft FM operations
• Deep knowledge of compliance, statutory requirements, workplace safety and contractor management
• Strong knowledge of compliance, risk management and best practice (e.g. fire, legionella, safety systems)
• A track record of delivering service transformation, efficiency and measurable improvements
