Job Description
We're seeking a Finance Manager to lead robust financial reporting and governance across 80 parish sites, while supporting central operations from our Crawley base.
In this key role, you'll produce timely and accurate management accounts, oversee cloud-based reporting, and lead on the preparation of annual statutory accounts. You'll be the primary contact for external auditors and play a central part in reporting to our Trustees and Diocesan Finance Committee.
You'll also manage cashflow forecasting, tax compliance, treasury and investment activity, and VAT (for one subsidiary). Charity sector experience is highly desirable, but your collaborative, flexible leadership--especially of a diverse network of staff and volunteer finance teams--will be most essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the finance team to support parish sites and central operations Deliver monthly management accounts, investigate variances, and report to stakeholders Prepare the annual diocesan and subsidiary budgets, monitor progress, and report on outcomes Produce annual statutory accounts and audit documentation Support parish accounting, advise treasurers, and respond to finance queries Manage diocesan investments and dividend distributions Ensure compliance with all HMRC reporting, including VAT (for one entity) Oversee day-to-day financial transactions including payroll and supplier payments Maintain key external relationships, including with accounting software provider AIQ
What You Bring:
Strong experience in financial reporting, ideally within a charity or not-for-profit setting Proven leadership of finance teams and support for volunteer-led operations Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
