Hutcheon Mearns is exclusively supporting a dynamic and entrepreneurial private family office to appoint a Head of Finance - a pivotal role as the organisation enters an exciting period of transformation and growth. This well-established family office manages a broad portfolio of operating businesses and investments across sectors such as property, hospitality, technology and consulting. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Family Office, the Head of Finance will take full ownership of the finance function across all group entities. This is a role for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment - balancing big-picture thinking with a willingness to dive into the detail. Whether it's preparing board level financial strategy or managing monthly accounts, you will need to be comfortable rolling your sleeves up.


Key responsibilities:


Oversee and lead all financial operations including cashflow, budgeting, forecasting and reporting Provide strategic financial insight to senior leadership and shareholders Work closely with external accountants and tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance across the group Prepare statutory accounts packs and support tax compliance Prepare quarterly management accounts Support commercial activities including M&A, investment appraisal and due diligence Take a pro-active role in cost control, performance monitoring and process improvement Act as board representative for investee companies and site of the Investment Committee Be a key contributor to the strategic and operational direction on the wider business

The Candidate

We're looking for a versatile and commercial minded finance professional - someone who combines technical accounting skills with practical know-how. You will be a Qualified Accountant (CA,ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a proven track record of managing finance in a complex, fast-moving environment. Your ability to take ownership, think on your feet and get involved, will be truly valued.


The successful candidate will ideally possess;


A strong foundation in financial reporting, cash management and tax Experience within private businesses, family offices or entrepreneurial settings High levels of discretion, accountability and initiative Experience with M&A or multi-entity structures is advantageous The ability to operate a both strategic and transactional levels as required

Remuneration and benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, 35 days holiday private medical insurance and company pension. The office is based in Dundee and the role may involve some travel from time to time. Hybrid working is available but office presence will be key.
