We are a vibrant, growing law firm with branches across the South East, seeking a fully qualified Head of Finance to lead our busy Finance department. This role will ensure the smooth running of our daily, monthly and annual accounting processes, as well as developing and implementing a robust financial strategy which identifies areas for improvement and opportunities to increase the profitability of the business.
The role requires extensive working knowledge of the Solicitors Account Rules and the ideal candidate will also have Legal Aid payment knowledge. Reporting to our senior management team, this role will be responsible for managing and developing a small team.
Main Duties
Leading and developing the Finance team
Providing financial advice to enable sound business decisions to be made
Overseeing the day-to-day running of all aspects of the firm's accounts in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and other regulatory requirements
Management of budgets
VAT returns and compliance with all aspects of the tax regime
Production of weekly/monthly/ annual management information reports
Production of reports and data for our statutory accounts, year-end audit and other regulatory requirements
Helping improve the financial awareness of staff through knowledge sharing and training
Skills Required
Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
Advanced Excel skills and proficient in the use of general and accounting software and systems
Previous experience of a similar role in a Law firm.
Experience of managing and developing a finance team.
Experience of operating at a senior level as part of a senior management team.
Experience of full management accounts preparation.
Proven commercial sense/business acumen.
Ability to digest, interpret and clearly communicate financial information.
Working knowledge of Legal Aid accounting processes a distinct advantage
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience of implementing new systems and processes.
