We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Finance to lead all financial functions of our growing automotive business. As a core member of the leadership team, managing a team of 2 and overseeing financial planning, operations, and compliance while playing a key role in shaping our business strategy. This is a high-impact role ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable working across both high-level strategy and day-to-day operations.
Duties
Strategic & Financial Leadership
Partner with the Directors and leadership team to develop financial strategies that support our growth and operational efficiency.
Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to support strategic decisions (e.g., new product development, capital investments, partnerships).
Represent finance in executive and board-level discussions.
Operational Finance
Own the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Monthly Profit and Loss Report
Manage day-to-day finance operations, including AP/AR, payroll, pensions and cash flow.
Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with local accounting and tax requirements.
Cost Control & Manufacturing Insight
Track product and operational costs, particularly in supply chain and R&D.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement.
Collaborate closely with sales, technical, marketing and procurement teams to align financial decisions with operational goals.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.
Oversee external audits, financial controls, and insurance needs.
Manage banking relationships, grants, and funding activities.
Systems & Processes
Improve or implement scalable financial systems and processes suitable for a small but growing team.
Evaluate and manage accounting/ERP software tools.
Team Leadership
Build and manage a lean finance function, potentially including outsourced accounting partners and a small internal team of 2.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred) (Not essential)
5-10 + years of experience in finance, ideally in the automotive or manufacturing sector.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and product lifecycle costing.
Proven experience in small to midsize companies (ideally sub-50 headcount).
Skilled in Excel, financial modelling, and accounting systems (e.g. Xero).
Hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
