Head of Financial Planning and Analysis



Salary: 90,000



Location: Ealing office base with hybrid working



Contract: 12-month fixed term contract, 35 hours per week



DBS check required: Basic




Role Overview



We are looking for a

Head of Financial Planning and Analysis

to join our dedicated Finance department. The Head of FP&A will lead the Business Partnering function, providing strategic insight and robust financial analysis to support decision-making across the housing association. The immediate priority will be to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial forecasts, deliver the immediate budget requirement and to develop comprehensive performance reporting frameworks that drive accountability and operational efficiency.


Key responsibilities:




Forecasting & Planning

Review and improve existing forecasting models to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with business objectives Implement best practices in financial planning processes, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing Own the build and ongoing development of a three statement excel financial model for reporting and forecasting

Budgeting

Oversee the annual budgeting cycle, ensuring realistic, data-driven budgets aligned with strategic priorities Introduce improvements to budgeting methodologies, including zero-based or rolling budgets where appropriate Provide guidance and challenge to budget holders to ensure robust assumptions and cost control
Performance Reporting

Design and deliver clear, actionable performance reports for senior leadership and the Board Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor financial and operational performance across the organisation Establish robust data governance practices to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy of financial and operational data Work with internal teams to identify and resolve data quality issues impacting reporting and forecasting

Business Partnering

Work closely with operational teams to provide financial insight and support strategic initiatives Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, ensuring financial implications are understood and managed effectively

Leadership & Team Development

Build, lead and mentor the FP&A team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and analytical excellence Ensure effective collaboration with other finance functions, including accounting and treasury Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making Collaborate with various transformation teams - including as customer to the longer term plans for Finance transformation Contribute to strategic projects including funding, investment appraisal, and financial modelling

More about you



Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math's and English (Grades A- C)
Holder of a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) Experience of senior finance role in the social housing sector Knowledge of IFRS and FRS102 (Expert) Knowledge of implementing leases and revenue recognition accounting standards (Proficient) Knowledge of tax in relation to social housing sector (Proficient) Skilled in implementing strong financial controls (Expert) Strong Excel skills
