About the Role:

Working across 3 sites. Rugby, Leeds and Beckton

Implement and manage the centre of excellence for Britvic Engineering leading rolling out key continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. Developing and implementing engineering planned maintenance system that looks at current practices but also looks at best in class systems including RCM working closely with the Supply Chain Excellence teams.. Assessment of current engineering and project systems, processes and practices to then develop and implement best in class processes and systems. Development and implementation of a central engineering inventory stores that ensures the correct balance of cost vs availability.

The key elements of the role are:

  • Creating an engineering planned maintenance system with strategies to reduce wastage and labour cost in all engineering projects.
  • Develop plans for the analysis of the flow of supply chain manufacturing data and processes.
  • Evaluate and carry out investigation on discrepancies for all actual as well as planned industrial procedures and keep track of all data; ensure integrity of results.
  • Stay updated with knowledge of industrial engineering technology and best practise.
  • Provide an effectual interface to site engineering and operations departments; design all strategies and provide assistance to all key staff.
  • Work with the relevant site quality contacts to ensure Quality critical maintenance is integrated into the standard SAP maintenance system.
  • Work with the relevant site Safety contacts to ensure Safety critical maintenance is integrated into the standard SAP maintenance system.
  • Ensure that best in class practices of preventive maintenance schedules, inventory parts and daily consumable usage.
  • Plan and assign work strategies in the production schedule that covers maintenance of process equipment and inspection at proper intervals.
  • Assist with equipment installations and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive functional excellence of the production engineering teams
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, safety and machine reliability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste.
  • Drive validation plans to ensure robust and comprehensive technical solutions. .
  • Analyse downtime, identify trends and develop solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy of Production Engineering procedures and documentation.
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
  • Produce written reports and make presentations where required on Digital manufacturing and best tools for Britvic supply chain.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications.
  • Membership of an Industry related professional body desirable
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD
  • In depth knowledge and experience of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Six Sigma
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information
  • Understand lean manufacturing
  • Planning and prioritising activities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • Good Analytical skills
  • Ability to negotiate the most complex arrangements with groups and stakeholders
