This is a fixed term role, upto 15 months maternity cover.

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Head of Grant Processes and Operations to lead a new team of talented and diverse professionals.

As Head of Grant Processes and Operations, you will be joining at an exciting time, to lead a new team that will support excellence and continuous improvement in all the Academy\xe2\x80\x99s grant making programmes. This will involve both ownership of the policies, operating guides and training that all grant making staff use and having a team capable of delivering key stages within the grant making lifecycle across all schemes.

You will report to the Associate Director, Research Programmes and Awards and your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the ongoing change management of the Academy\xe2\x80\x99s grant processes, ensuring that appropriate protocols are used for decision-making and communication to ensure changes are successfully embedded.
  • Leading on development and implementation of all policies covering grant-making related issues, liaising with colleagues across the Academy as appropriate to make sure these reflect good practice, developments in research and innovation policy, requirements of our funders and other compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring that the Academy makes full and appropriate use of the potential of its Grant Making System to support efficient, scalable, and resilient processes, acting as the senior member of the user community and liaising with colleagues across the Academy and within other organisations and the system providers.
  • Contributing to the successful running and ongoing development of the Academy as part of the Leadership Team.

  • Extensive experience of working in roles supporting continuous improvement in grant processes
  • Broad and exceptional knowledge of best practice in grant management
  • Knowledge of data protection regulation and risk management approaches
  • Staff management experience
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure with exceptional prioritisation and time management skills
  • Diplomatic and flexible

Location

Our light, spacious offices are based in a fantastic location in central London with views over St James\xe2\x80\x99s Park and close to the West End. We operate hybrid, flexible working practices with a baseline 2 days a week in the office.
