We are a growing engineering and manufacturing group based in Cornwall, employing approximately 145 people across specialist, regulated operations.
We are now looking to appoint a Head of HR to lead our people function and support the next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on senior HR role, ideal for an experienced HR professional ready to take ownership of the HR agenda within a dynamic, operational business.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO/SLT, you will:
Lead all HR activity across the Group
Support managers with employee relations, performance, and people issues
Strengthen HR processes, policies, and compliance
Drive recruitment, engagement, and retention
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
This role combines operational delivery with strategic input and requires someone comfortable being visible, pragmatic, and commercially aware.
About You
You will likely be:
A Senior HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or existing Head of HR
Experienced in employee relations and manager support
Comfortable in manufacturing, engineering, or regulated environments
Practical, confident, and able to work at pace in an SME setting

Person Specification
Essential
Significant experience in a senior HR role (Senior HR Manager / HR Business Partner / Head of HR)
Strong hands-on experience with employee relations in an operational environment
Proven experience supporting managers in people and performance matters
Solid working knowledge of UK employment law
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defence, or similarly regulated environments
Practical, commercially minded, and comfortable operating at pace
Able to work autonomously and take ownership of the HR function
Desirable
Experience in SME or owner-led businesses
Exposure to business growth, change, or multi-site operations
CIPD Level 7 or above (or equivalent experience)
Experience preparing businesses for audits, customers, or investment scrutiny
