Head of HSE (Energy Management Services)
Location: Warrington (Head Office) - with travel across Chorley, Knowsley
Business Unit: Renewable Energy (EMS Division)

Our renewables business, known as Energy Management Services (EMS), is made up of three dynamic and rapidly growing companies:

Together, these businesses deliver sustainable, energy-efficient solutions nationwide - supported by office operations in Chorley, Knowsley, Warrington, and Preston.
With a team of around 200 employees, EMS combines technical expertise with a strong safety culture across diverse roles, including installers, fitters, tradespeople, labourers, site managers, warehouse operatives, and office-based teams in sales, support, and administration.
Our head office in Warrington will be your main base, though travel across other company sites is expected.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of HSE (Energy Management Services) to lead Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) strategy across our Renewables business.
Supported by a small but dedicated team of HSE professionals, you will drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement - ensuring that all colleagues, contractors, and partners operate safely and sustainably in line with our Safety F1rst principles.
Leadership of a team of 6 HSE professionals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of the company's HSE strategy and management systems.
  • Champion a positive safety culture through engagement, training, and governance.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and relevant certifications including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO50001, and OHSAS18001.
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders on all HSSEQ matters, including regulatory changes.
  • Manage internal audits, investigations, and reporting, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators and trade bodies (HSE, EA, FPS, EI, UKPIA, etc.).
  • Oversee HSSEQ training and development programmes to upskill the workforce.
  • Produce monthly and annual HSSEQ performance reports and KPIs for the Board.
  • Manage departmental budgets efficiently, identifying cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the HSE team to deliver operational excellence.
About You
You're a proactive, credible HSE leader who can influence at all levels and bring energy and expertise to a growing renewables business. You'll have:
  • Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role within energy, renewables, or similar sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO management systems and certification processes.
  • In-depth understanding of UK Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience delivering safety culture improvement.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent preferred.
