In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be the contact point for all Freightliner leasing relationships (excluding Property). You will lead and strategize the leasing operations for all IML assets, including managing transactions with Manufacturers and Lessors, and you will proactively manage the technical interactions between Lessors and the Freightliner Engineering teams, ensuring compliance to all technical lease obligations.
Main duties and responsibilities:Key responsibilities include strategy development, financial oversight, stakeholder management, and ensuring operational efficiency in areas such as, contract negotiation, and lease completion across all of Rail, Engineering and Road leasing. Ensure that lessor approval of 'Engineering Change' is granted where applicable, including maintenance periodicity changes and mandatory and non-mandatory fleet modifications. Develop and implement the leasing strategy and align it with the company's overall goals. Oversee the entire leasing lifecycle, including bringing assets to market, agreeing on terms, managing contracts, and closing deals. Ensure all leasing activities are conducted within budget constraints and manage financial aspects of the leasing function in line with the company goals. Identify and mitigate risks associated with leasing transactions. Interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, such as internal departments (e.g. finance, business development), manufacturers, lessors, and lawyers as required. Provide key contractual KPI's to the lessors/banks as required by the lease agreements, such as lifetime totals. Facilitate asset 'Pre-delivery' & 'hand back' inspections when required. Ensure that key lease obligations regarding 'Technical Records' are met throughout the asset life cycle. Keep lessors informed of any safety related incidents including NIR's and high-risk defects. Support the 'Financial Business Partners' at regular contract review meetings. Provide technical support including technical justification to the 'Financial Business Partners' at annual Maintenance Reserve reviews. Where applicable agree 'significant' asset damage repair specifications with the Lessor/Lessors, ensuring that the lessee's right to 'Quiet Enjoyment' is met, yet recognising the lessors need to protect their assets. Working alongside the Audit & Standards Engineer to facilitate Lessor asset inspections & audits, leading closure of any NCR's where appropriate. Support the T&RS production team at contract reviews, in particular where the lessor is also the ECM. Work jointly, and cohesively, with other senior members of the UK business including Fleet Managers & T&RS Engineering. Contribute to safe maintenance practices and lead staff in a positive safety culture. Champion and drive the business towards its target of zero injuries and incidents. Establish a high level of credibility and ensure strong working relationships with both the UK business leaders to ensure open dialogue and maintenance best practice. Get involved in any ad hoc Engineering/Operational projects.

Key job requirements:A proven track record of success in a senior level, in a general or fleet, management role, preferably within the rail freight, or a related industry Engineering / Maintenance experience of management of Traction and Rolling Stock, highly desirable Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both a strategic and an operational level Ability to build healthy working relationships with internal & external business stakeholders while exhibiting independence and objectivity in thought and action Solid analytical skills with the ability to digest and disseminate information on a broad range of businesses and stakeholders Ability to multitask and work well under pressure, prioritising tasks and workload and managing conflicting demands Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff across the Freightliner business, as well as key stakeholders, most particularly the UK Senior management team Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan own work, work autonomously, and meet deadlines Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy of work Appreciation of the demands of managing conflicting interests and of meeting statutory requirements Ability to navigate complex problems and ensure effective and sound decision making, systematically and under pressure Effective management and delegation with the ability to build trust.
