We are seeking a Head of Precinct who will have operational leadership for our Works Department and oversee the maintenance, restoration and conservation of the iconic York Minster precinct.

The post holder will report to the Director of Works and Precinct for all matters relating to the fabric of the cathedral, facilities and buildings within the precinct. You would draw on substantial experience in heritage and conversation and share our commitment to delivering exemplary craft skills.

York Minster is on the front line of the fight to protect heritage sites against climate change. In 2025 we were awarded Eco Gold status, following successful delivery of several projects which included installing 184 solar panels on the roof of the cathedral, and a complete retrofit of the York Minster Refectory (a listed building) using sustainable technologies. As well as the cathedral, we have multiple facilities and buildings within the precinct, serving multiple purposes. The successful candidate will work alongside a hardworking and supportive team to manage multiple restoration and maintenance projects in a dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading a multi-building diverse construction team, a proven track record in project management, and excellent knowledge of construction health and safety.
