We are working in partnership with one of our long-standing clients on an exclusive executive search for a Head of IT. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a full technology modernisation and transformation programme within an organisation that is investing heavily in its future.
Our client has a clear strategic ambition to simplify its systems landscape, modernise its technology, and create an IT function that enables business-wide change. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping this transformation, building trust across the organisation, and developing a high-performing IT team that supports the delivery of excellent services to customers and colleagues.
The opportunity

You will guide the Executive Management Team on how technology and data can best enable organisational goals, while leading and developing an IT team of around 25 people.
You will play a key role in major transformation programmes, including the implementation of new HR, finance and operational systems, and the introduction of a new customer portal. This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys building capability, developing people, and delivering lasting change.
Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and empower the IT team to deliver great service and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity and data governance, ensuring resilience and compliance.
  • Manage the delivery of key system implementation projects, on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders and external partners to drive collaboration and innovation.
  • Promote digital literacy across the business, ensuring colleagues can make full use of new technologies.
  • Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation, acting as a key advisor on technology and data.
We are looking for:
  • Significant experience in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.
  • A proven track record of leading IT or digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data governance and cloud-based platforms.
  • Experience of managing outsourced partners and technology vendors.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and collaboration.
  • A pragmatic, forward-thinking mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Relevant qualifications such as ITIL, PRINCE2, or leadership training (for example ILM level 6 or 7) would be an advantage.
Why apply
This role offers the chance to make a tangible and lasting impact. The organisation has a strong financial foundation, a clear transformation plan and the ambition to deliver meaningful change over the coming years.
You will join a collaborative and forward-looking leadership team at a time when technology is recognised as central to success.
If you are a people-focused IT leader who enjoys modernising systems, building capability and enabling business change, we would be keen to speak with you.
