Head of Legal - Leading Fitness Franchise

\xc2\xa3100-108k basic salary plus car allowance

We are recruiting for this role in the Milton Keynes area (hybrid working available)

We have an incredible opportunity for a Head of Legal to join one of the leading names in fitness franchising. With sites all of the UK and Ireland and continued rapid growth plans, this is an exciting role in a fast-paced business. The successful candidate will become a vital asset within the SLT and will be crucial towards this companies continues success and growth.

Some of the responsibilities of this exciting legal role:

• Autonomously & independently provide legal advice on all matters affecting the business, including the matters set out below, with minimal assistance required from external counsel: commercial advice, drafting and negotiation for a range of contracts
• Support with the Master Franchise Agreement (MFA) adherence, amendments, and renewal
• Appropriate management of legal and commercial risks, including drafting and redrafting of relevant documentation
• Intellectual property, including trademarks, copyright, and IT matters, including enforcement and protection

corporate advice including statutory interpretation and compliance. * Management of regulatory investigations, including liaising with Government agents, devising strategies, and executing plans

• Litigation and inquiry management, including undertaking dispute resolution processes, instructing external counsel, developing trial & hearing strategies, and advising the business on risks & commercial positions
• General legal advice including statutory compliance, privacy, property, and insurance
• Advice on relevant aspects of law and regulation, with a particular emphasis on Franchising Law
• Draft and review supplier agreements and support negotiation processes as required.

About you:

• Currently in a Head of Legal/ Legal Director/ General Counsel role and looking for your next challenge
• Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience practising as a lawyer, preferably with a corporate or franchise law focus
• Proven capability of leading a legal & compliance team to meet and exceed quarterly and annual KPI\xe2\x80\x99s
• Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and strategic orientation whilst maintaining a hands-on approach for day-to-day responsibilities.
• Strong technical legal ability supported with sound general commercial and corporate experience
• Sound understanding of the franchising sector and its regulatory environment preferred
• The ability to communicate complex legal situations simply and clearly to a wide audience including the Board
• At least 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a franchise company or within a law firm specialising in franchising
