The role
As the Head of Marketing Communications, you will create and execute the global marketing plan to deliver on the CIPD's five-year strategy. The role covers a wide range of activity from brand development to integrated campaigns that deliver commercial results. You will lead and inspire a cross functional team responsible for media engagement, reputation management, campaign delivery, digital content, social media, creative, event marketing and all paid, owned and earned channels. As the Head of Marketing Communications, you will build the CIPD's brand to deliver increased impact with key stakeholders and positive sentiment with customers in the UK and our regions.
What you'll be doing
Developing and leading strategic communications initiatives to elevate the profile of the organisation and amplify the voices of our members across channels and stakeholder groups.
Building relationships with key media channels and other outlets.
Leading the evolution of our always-on press office.
Evolving the brand position to support the CIPD strategy and ambition across all lines of business, markets and channels.
Developing and managing the global marketing comms plan, and budget to ensure alignment with the CIPD's overarching objectives.
Developing the campaign planning process, ensuring an 'always-on' approach that aligns with brand and optimises the customer lifecycle.
Creating a robust campaign planning framework that integrates our products and services, focusing on data, the customer journeys and channel mapping.
Overseeing member communication through all channels, led by data and insights to deliver the best customer experience and return on investment.
Owning the business input to the Content Management Platform (CMP), including content calendar creation, channel mapping, and input management coordination.
Overseeing the marketing plans for our key events, working with partners and across the organisation.
Managing sponsorship for external events and publications to agreed KPIs.
Identifying events and opportunities where the CIPD can raise their voice on key issues.
Identifying key stakeholders, partners, and influencers for campaigns, fostering collaborative relationships to enhance campaign impact.
Building valuable, trusted relationships with agency partners to increase return on investment and knowledge.
Overseeing the development of an effective briefing process for creative assets, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand guidelines.
Driving the creative evolution of the brand across new channels.
Leading crisis communications and reputation management efforts, ensuring swift and effective responses to maintain the CIPD's brand integrity.

What you'll need to be successful
Extensive experience of strategic marketing communications.
Ability to effectively manage internal stakeholder, external partners and influencers.
Experience of leading a large multi-functional marketing communications team.
Proven track record of leading successful marketing communications campaigns with measurable impact, both B2B and B2C.
Proficiency in digital marketing, content marketing, and social media.
Experience in managing media relations and crisis communication.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on performance evaluation and optimisation.
An ability to respond to data and insights in order to optimise activity and a curiosity to take advantage of emerging technology and channels
Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
An ability to develop trusted relationships with agency partnerships to support the evolution of the CIPD's marketing capability.
Proficiency in using marketing communication tools and platforms.
Understanding of the role technology can have in delivering a more innovative marketing approach.
Curiosity about how to evolve the skills and capabilities of an in-house delivery team.
