We are looking for an inspiring and ambitious individual to become the next Head of Mathematics at Farlingaye. This is a full-time, permanent post starting in January 2026.

You will be taking on a thriving department with a tremendous team of skilled and dedicated teachers, all committed to delivering high-quality teaching and excellent outcomes for our students. The department is ripe for a dynamic leader to take it forward, building on its strong foundations to embrace new ideas and drive further innovation.

As Head of Mathematics you will provide strategic leadership across all key stages, shaping the curriculum, championing creative and effective approaches to teaching and learning, and relentlessly driving up standards and outcomes for every student. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and a supportive leader, able to inspire, mentor and develop colleagues while forging strong partnerships within and beyond Farlingaye.

You can be assured of excellent support. You will benefit from strong guidance from your line manager, with regular meetings to help you lead the department effectively. You will become part of our middle leadership team, where you will find supportive colleagues from other faculties who work together to maintain and enhance the high standards of the school. Farlingaye also provides an outstanding support programme for newly appointed staff, with an innovative CPD offer and plentiful opportunities for professional growth and development.

Farlingaye High School is a popular and successful school, located in Woodbridge, a pleasant market town situated on the River Deben in Suffolk and just 7 miles from Ipswich. We are a creative school with excellent resources, lovely students and great results. Our most recent Ofsted report graded us Good with Outstanding areas.



We are part of East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST) alongside Bungay High School, Holbrook Academy, Kesgrave High School, Castle East School, EAST SCITT and five primary schools Aldeburgh, Wickham Market, Easton, Leiston and Saxmundham with whom we work closely with. We are committed to providing excellent staff opportunities through developing and promoting our staff and offering an excellent CPD and support programme for new staff. We are also extremely pleased to have launched our own teacher training provider: EAST SCITT. This allows us to award QTS and also QTS + PGCE Programmes within both Primary and Secondary schools.

"Pupils feel safe and say they are happy. Everyone feels accepted and welcomed. Pupils behave positively. They are lively, confident, enthusiastic and kind. Pupils know that teachers are very proud of them and their achievements. Leaders have constructed a broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils. Leaders make sure that pupils' needs are identified quickly. Teaching in sixth form is highly effective. Leaders work to promote pupils' personal development is exceptional. Pupils, including those with SEND participate in a range of clubs and out of school activities involving the arts, drama and sport. Sixth form students are wonderful ambassadors for the school. Teachers provide high quality advice around careers and next steps."
