What You Can Expect



Key Responsibilities:



Strategy & Leadership:



Develop and implement the Operational Excellence strategy aligned with


business goals.


Act as a change agent to foster a Lean and continuous improvement


culture.


Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive productivity and operational


efficiency.





Continuous Improvement:



Design and roll out continuous improvement frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six


Sigma).


Lead Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis


workshops.


Identify inefficiencies and deliver measurable process improvements.


Design and implement a UK warehousing demand planning centre to


manage all aspects of operational workflows.


Performance Management:



Develop KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking tools to monitor


improvement efforts.


Benchmark internal performance against industry standards and drive


best-in-class practices.


Work closely with operations teams to translate insights into operational


actions.





Project Management:



Manage improvement projects from concept through execution, ensuring


delivery on time and within scope.


Collaborate with IT, HR, Quality, and Operations to implement system &


process upgrades.





Team Development:



Build and lead a team of Operational Excellence professionals and


project managers (where applicable).


Mentor and train site teams on Lean tools and OE methodologies.





Customer Focus:



Work with key customers to support their CI goals and align Rhenus UK


performance with their expectations.


Participate in customer reviews and audits related to operational


performance and improvement plans.


Key Relationships:



Internal All functional Directors , Site Managers, Operations Managers, Quality, IT & HR External Customers (where applicable and agreed with the OD & CD), Suppliers,
Auditors, Automation Integrators

What You Bring:



Key Skills & Experience:



Proven experience in operational excellence or continuous improvement
leadership in a 3PL or logistics environment.


Strong understanding of supply chain, warehousing, transportation, and
distribution processes.


Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies. Track record of leading successful improvement projects with tangible results. Strong analytical skills, able to interpret data and convert insights into action. Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills. Experience working in a matrix or multi-site organization is advantageous.

Success Measures:



Cost savings and productivity improvements achieved. Operational KPIs (OTIF, throughput, inventory accuracy) improved. Employee engagement in CI initiatives. Customer satisfaction and retention. Adoption and sustainability of OE practices across sites. Automation implementation across all UK facilities. Inventory accuracy. Oversee & Support the Blue Yonder roll out through to completion. Instrumental in solution design processes, tenders & RCT models.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):



% increase in productivity & overall reduction in cost per unit handled Reduction in process cycle time or touchpoints Increase in OTIF (On Time In Full) performance Number and success rate of CI projects implemented Team engagement in CI activities (e.g., Kaizen participation) * Customer satisfaction / audit scores
