Head Of Operations

Ammanford, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Head of Operations

This is a fantastic opportunity for a part time Head of Operations to join the longest-established Greyhound charity in Wales and the only all-Wales charity dedicated to rescuing and re-homing Greyhounds and Lurchers.

Reporting to the CEO this is a senior management role with responsibility for managing day to day operations with our dedicated team of staff & volunteers who keep things running all year round.

We are looking for a highly skilled individual with experience of managing a multi faceted team within a Third Sector or membership lead organisation. You will be a self-starter with demonstrable experience of managing day to day operations whilst also being 'hands on' when necessary.

The Role

This role is responsible for delivering the organisation's strategy & business plan, which underpins our vision of "a Wales without greyhound racing, where every greyhound and lurcher has a home and receives the best possible care." Primarily, this involves leading the organisation's valued staff and volunteers and working closely with the CEO to steer Greyhound Rescue Wales (GRW) along its path to further success.

The role works across all areas of the charity and is required to manage multiple areas simultaneously and prioritise work time accordingly. It is responsible for a number of critical functions such as financial management, health and safety, data protection, safeguarding and more, monitoring and managing these areas on a day-to-day basis and taking independent action to address any issues.

The post holder must be a competent self-manager to ensure that work is carried out on time and to a high standard. There is a small but significant element of 'hands on' work associated with the role.

Role-Specific Responsibilities

? Leadership and Management: As a member of GRW's senior management team you will be responsible for the direct management of our function managers, and the finance assistant. Providing feedback on their performance and developing skills & knowledge where appropriate.

? Governance: You will ensure all internal policies and procedures are regularly reviewed, developed, implemented and adhered to, and are in compliance with relevant legislation. You will also develop and maintain an operational plan that breaks down how you will direct the organisation's resources to deliver its strategic aims.

? Training: You will ensure that staff and volunteers are provided with suitable, up-to-date training through delivering or sourcing appropriate material.

? Finance: You will monitor the ongoing financial performance of the organisation, through spending & budget reviews and seek continual improvements in the delivery and cost efficiency of GRW services.

? Animal Welfare: You will oversee our animal welfare service provision ensuring the necessary resources are in place to deliver the standard of care outlined in our Welfare Framework whilst balancing high welfare standards with the charitable principle of value for money.

? Income Generation: Ensuring the charity generates enough income to remain sustainable by developing, implementing and monitoring a fundraising strategy.

? Communications: Develop and implement a communications plan that covers the whole of the organisation's output and supports its strategic aims acting as the senior operational authority on all external communications.

? Information Technology: you will be the primary point of contact for all administration relating to information technology such as Google Workspace, the organisation's website & social media accounts. Handling & reporting any incidents as necessary.

? We expect all staff to support our Vision and Mission and behave in a manner that is compatible with our values.
