Head Of Policy And Campaigns

Swansea, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

If like us, you are passionate about addressing injustice and making a difference to the lives of the people in Wales then you could be our next

Head of Policy and Campaigns.

This is an exciting time to join Platfform and our influencing and change work as we continue to develop how we deliver on taking a holistic and social justice approach to mental health.

We want a fairer, and safer mental health system that meets people's needs as quickly and as close to home as possible. We also want to prevent mental ill health in the first place by ensuring everyone has the circumstances they need to thrive.

At Platfform we describe mental health in its simplest form as nervous system regulation and connection to self, others and the world around us. This means mental health is about all of us and relevant everywhere.

It's why we're excited to see the Welsh Government taking this approach too. The new mental health and wellbeing and self-harm and suicide strategies talk about mental health in a holistic, whole system way. This is a hugely progressive step forward.

Our next task is to put it into practice and make it a reality. We're looking for someone who can help us build the movement needed to do just that.

This will mean leaning into our differences and rebuild trust between people, politicians and services. We must work together, across sectors and within communities, to co-creating making this vision a reality.

Against a backdrop of societal trauma, Wales needs an approach to mental health that is specifically fit for Wales. For our existing infrastructure, collective history, strong sense of community and our shared culture. One that recognises Wales today, and that learns from where we have been.

Our nation already has great foundations to build on. If these strategies are delivered as set out, it could be what we need to harness the healing power within Wales to turn the tide on mental ill health so that we can all live thriving lives.

In the run up to the Welsh Government elections 2026 you will play a vital role in influencing political parties manifestos, the new government whatever shape that takes and ensuring the work done already is not lost.

We work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of wellbeing in the places that they live. Through our projects, we work with thousands of people each year.

We believe that long-lasting wellbeing comes about by understanding how lives can be shaped by traumatic experiences, identifying people's strengths and focussing on healing. We know we can't 'fix' people, but we can walk alongside people and help where we can on their journey.

We try hard to make Platfform a great place to work, we live our values and mission in everything that we do.
