Job Description


We are looking to recruit a Head of Power who will be responsible for building and maintaining our strategies for power resilience across the whole Thames Water estate.In this role you will be part of the Senior Management Team within Operations, and you will play a fundamental role in future proofing Thames Waters ability to deliver services to our millions of customers.This will be achieved through proactive planned upgrades and renewals programmes for which you will be responsible in establishing, as well as reactive day-to-day responses to power failures.What youll be doing as the Head of Power

  • Design short, medium and long-term power resilience strategies for over 8000 operating sites.
  • Guide and manage our relationships with DNOs to provide stable and fit-for-purpose services.
  • Design and steer a multi-AMP upgrade programme across the estate to improve resilience, power usage and alternative power innovation.
  • Create an industry-leading power team with strong analytics and reporting capability across the business.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team to create a centre of excellence for Power.
  • Build a compelling data-led business case for future enhancement funding.
Base location is flexible across the Thames Water estate, but this role will involve the need to travel to visit operational sites.Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week.What you should bring to the role
  • You will have extensive experience in a technical Low Voltage & High Voltage infrastructure senior management role.
  • Degree level or equivalent with professional chartership likely in their Power Engineering Discipline.
  • Experience working with DNOs to manage continuity of power and minimise disruptions.
  • Experience building strategies and programmes within technical power resilience.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance.
  • Ability to lead and communicate with both internal colleagues up to a senior level as well as with external regulators, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • A strong commitment to process and occupational safety
