Head of PR & Communications (External & Internal)

Location London (Hybrid working 2/3 days a week in the office 2/3 days from home)

Salary: \xc2\xa385-110,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits

Our Client is a global market leader in their field and we have a new \xe2\x80\x9cblank piece of paper\xe2\x80\x9d senior role to hire for. You will be responsible for setting up an external (PR) and internal communications function for UK & Ireland

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the UK & Ireland external and internal communications strategy, ensuring it is consistent with the Group (global) strategy. This will include media relations, social media, public affairs and working with Head of Sustainability to develop a compelling sustainability narrative for their current and future clients and other key stakeholders (NGOs). You will oversee managing PR agencies and a small team, so you will need to be comfortable both strategising and rolling up your sleeves to get the job done

The successful candidate will develop, implement, and direct the Company\'s UK and Ireland communications and PR strategy and related programs. Additionally, responsible for strategically positioning and promoting corporate messaging in an appropriate and favourable manner to all external and internal audiences.

The role:

  • Develop a pro-active PR and Communications strategy (externally and internally) - to include how they maximise coverage of new openings, job creation, multi-cultural and generational environment
  • Create an extrovert voice for the UK and Ireland business using all mediums available
  • Create a plan and vision that can lead to increase growth in customer and brand partnerships (franchise and own brand agreements) increase engagement, that gets translated to paid and owned media and communication strategies across a broad spectrum of channels
  • Develop the strategy and oversee implementation across media, including, audio, video, traditional and new media, social media, organic social, influencers, direct mail, display, custom content, etc and affiliates that produces stronger communications campaigns, drives performance and results
  • Oversee social media strategies and tactics that increase audience engagement and growth across all social media channels
  • Create an overall budget that delivers on performance targets and sets effectiveness measurement targets
  • Advocate for informed innovation, calculated risk-taking, and new communication testing, and creates a position as a leader as the voice and tone of the organisation
  • Facilitate strong cross-collaboration between internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Secure, manage and optimise 3rd party relationships for example PR agency, events consultancies to meet business objectives and ensure execution across key stakeholders
  • Create the Company\'s overarching strategic communications plan and messaging platform to drive consistency of narrative regarding both internal/external audiences.
  • Develops, composes, distributes, and implements programmes to enhance the efficiency of the communications department and to further develop the building and maintaining of a positive corporate message for the UK and Ireland.
  • Oversees UK&I communications and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, industry magazines and trade bodies.
  • Develop metrics and measurement of program outcomes.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to the Chief Executive Officer and other senior leaders aligned with and supporting the overall business goals.
  • Develop and implement short and long-term strategies for PR & media relations programs to favourably position the organisation and its leadership within the trade, business, consumer and financial press.
  • Develop and manage an effective crisis and issues management program that signals an early warning for any scenario that could be distracting or disruptive to the business.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with internal business leaders to maintain consistent positioning and messaging to ensure the company (and its properties) have a coordinated and consistent narrative.
  • In coordination with Marketing and Investor Relations, develop executive communications, presentations, and speechwriting on behalf of the CEO and senior leaders of the company to provide strategically relevant and impactful opportunities.
  • Lead UK&I social media feeds creating an engaging voice which encourages high levels of engagement to a broad base of demographics
  • Lead, coach and develop the Internal Communications Manager in working together to develop the internal communications strategy and framework for the UK&I business
  • Drive channel development - Teams, SP and Viva Engage - as we roll out these tools to our Front Line Workers
  • Overall responsibility for all internal events (i.e. Annual Conference)
  • Develop narrative around UK sustainability strategy and plan
  • Actively manage the relationship with charity partnerships
  • Non-Government Organisation engagement as required.
  • Support the Business Development teams to maximise organisational strengths
  • Showcase partnership and employer brand
  • whilst working in partnership with the Group
The person:
  • Degree educated, an advanced degree in business and /or relevant communications degree is a plus.
  • Experience leading paid and owned retail media strategy within retail, hospitality, FMCG manufacturing, logistics, media network, or a communications agency. You will have an impressive career trajectory of leadership experience within a FTSE 250 corporate or agency environment.
  • Communications and PR professional with deep functional leadership experience in relevant mediums including digital
  • You will have stature and credibility and be recognised as a credible and trusted advisor. You will have demonstrated the ability to excel in rapidly changing environments, adjust quickly and effortlessly, and possess a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Strong critical thinking and planning skills to develop and implement effective internal and external communication campaigns and programmes
  • Ability to digest information quickly and meet tight timeframes across several projects
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Proven track record to think creatively and develop innovative content that speaks to, and gains traction with target audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, an individual who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels. A passion for \'the colleague voice\' and ensuring all colleagues at all levels feel represented and listened to
  • Knowledge of a variety of internal communications channels, ideally the Microsoft platforms including Teams and Yammer
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision making skills and able to measure the effectiveness of projects and make recommendations for improvement
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies
