Overview


The Head of Professional Development is responsible for leading the design, delivery and improvement of Knowledge Exchange UK (KEUK)'s continual professional development (CPD) programmes, ensuring they are relevant, high-quality, and sustainable.

This role combines hands-on management of KEUK's CPD activity with forward-thinking development of new approaches. This includes; updating and enhancing the existing portfolio, piloting new initiatives including virtual learning, and collaborating closely with our volunteer course directors and partners. The role also contributes to the development of mentoring opportunities and leads projects such as the KEUK skills framework and accreditation in collaboration with expert volunteers.

The postholder leads a small team, manages the professional development budget, and ensures our CPD offering remains relevant, engaging and aligned with member and sector needs.

This role would suit a proactive, organised, and collaborative individual with a passion for the positive impact CPD can have on productivity, career progression and network development within a professional community.

Prior experience in a university, professional body or CPD-focused environment is desirable.

Responsibilities



Programme Development and Delivery

Accountable for the successful delivery and ongoing development of KEUK's CPD programmes, initiatives and events Regularly review and refresh the CPD portfolio to keep it relevant, innovative and informed by members needs Pilot new approaches, including virtual learning and blended formats Manage CPD accreditation and support implementation of the KEUK skills framework in collaboration with expert volunteers Monitor, evaluate and report on CPD programme outcomes, using insights to inform continuous improvement

Partner and Volunteer Engagement

Collaborate closely with volunteer course directors, facilitators and external providers to maintain the quality and consistency of CPD delivery Build and sustain effective relationships with partners and contributors to the CPD portfolio

Line Management

Leading and managing the professional development team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Providing oversight of the planning, delivery and evaluation of CPD activities Ensure clear communication and coordination across the team to facilitate smooth programme operation and delivery

Budget Management and Reporting

Be accountable for managing the professional development budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources Prepare and submit financial reports related to CPD activities Support efforts to identify and secure funding to enhance CPD offerings

Advocacy



Advocate for the importance and impact of continued professional development within KEUK and across the sector Represent KEUK's CPD initiatives at relevant external events, forums and networks

Skills

Proven experience in business development or a related field, with a strong track record of success. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively. Proficiency in HRIS systems (Workday, SharePoint) and CRM software (Salesforce). Familiarity with Adobe Captivate for creating engaging training materials is advantageous. Strong mentoring skills with the ability to educate team members effectively. A solid understanding of human resources principles as they relate to business development initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
