We're now looking for a hands-on Head of Purchasing to lead our purchasing function and keep our supply chain running smoothly. You'll be joining a friendly, hardworking team in a fast-paced, supportive environment where your experience and initiative will make a real difference.
The Role
As Head of Purchasing, you'll take day-to-day responsibility for all purchasing activity -- from raising orders and managing suppliers to tracking deliveries and supporting other teams across the business. You'll oversee a small purchasing team and work closely with sales, accounts, and production to make sure everything flows efficiently.
This is a practical, detail-focused role where you'll be actively involved in the daily purchasing process while continuously improving systems and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all purchasing activity within the business.
Lead by example, working hands-on with your team to raise and track purchase orders.
Liaise directly with suppliers to place orders, confirm details, and monitor progress.
Manage back orders and international shipments to ensure deadlines are met.
Maintain accurate records within our ERP system.
Support the accounts team with supplier queries, invoices, and payment schedules.
Work closely with sales and production to prioritise and fulfil customer orders.
Identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently to keep the operation running smoothly.
Review purchasing processes regularly and suggest practical improvements.
About You
You're someone who enjoys getting stuck in and keeping things moving. You're organised, proactive, and great at building relationships both inside and outside the business.
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within a fast-moving business.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Confident communicator with clear written and spoken English.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with ERP or order management systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and a "can-do" attitude.
Able to balance multiple priorities calmly and efficiently.
Desirable
Experience in workwear, apparel, or manufacturing.
Team leadership or supervisory experience.
