Salary:
Circa 70000depending on skills and experience
What you'll be doing:
Acting as the delegated quality authority for the business, as Quality subject matter expert providing assurance to the Senior Management Team
Managing and directing a team of Quality professionals, supporting their performance and development
Leading assurance activities and reporting into the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the Business Management System (BMS) remains compliant to all internal and external requirements, and leading certification activity
Delivering compliance regarding all performance measures (safety, quality, cost, delivery and people)
Creating departmental plans to address resource and operational challenges. Where applicable incorporate into Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
Providing management support to the department and a route for escalation
Ensuring all product safety and associated verification / validation requirements in products and services are effective
Representing Quality function at business reviews and liaising with customer when required
Developing, articulating, and delivering quality and business strategic objectives through the team
Your skills and experiences:
Experienced Quality professional or have equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience leading teams through a period of significant organisational or operational change
Knowledge of gaining and maintaining accreditation including ISO
Leadership ability and prior people management experience
Good understanding of elements of product and programme assurance
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Have extensive knowledge, application and training of Quality certification and regulatory standards and be able to educate team members
NC, HNC or degree qualified in an appropriate technical discipline is desirable

The Quality
team:
As Head of Quality, you'll join Weapon Systems UK which designs, builds, and supports artillery systems and naval guns used across the world. Due to recent geopolitical events, the need for artillery capability has come under increasing spotlight, and BAE Systems is restarting production of products including major structures for the M777 Howitzer to help meet this demand. To do this, we have opened a brand-new manufacturing facility in Sheffield, and you will be the delegated quality authority, covering this facility and our Barrow site.
This is an exciting opportunity to join as we scale our production capability. You'll help build and mobilise quality processes, systems, integrate the quality function across 2 sites and the role is likely to grow as our manufacturing capability and demand increases.
