The role Head of Reward is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the CDG UK&I compensation and benefits strategy. They will ensure that the company's reward framework is competitive, equitable, and aligned with our goal to attract and retain top talent. They will be able to navigate complex pay structures, including that of unionised workforce, and
address the needs of a diverse employee group, from frontline staff to executives.
This role would have a strong focus on HR technology and its application in modernising and streamlining reward processes as the business transitions to SuccessFactors. Experience of using SuccessFactors is critical for the role holder.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy and Design
Develop and implement a total reward strategy which includes compensation, benefits, and bonus proposals, that aligns with the business's strategic objectives.
Create reward policies that covers treatment of internal promotions, payment of allowances.
Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure pay structures are competitive using Willis Towers Watson benchmarking tool
Design and manage a new job family and grading structure within SuccessFactors.
Establish salary ranges and compensation frameworks that promote fairness and transparency.
Compensation and Benefits Management
Lead the annual salary review process, including pay awards and bonus allocation, ensuring the principles of CDG HQ is followed as needed
Support finance in budgeting and forecasting for salary reviews and bonus payments.
Implement globally consistent, as well as locally relevant salary bands. Utilise market benchmarking data to ensure our compensation is competitive and aligned with our desired market position.
Review our processes and policies that support benefits packages to ensure communications are clear, robust and understood by employees
Ensure all reward practices comply with relevant legislation and industry regulations, including gender pay gap and equal pay reporting
HRIS and Data Management (with a focus on SuccessFactors)
Act as the subject matter expert for all reward-related modules within SuccessFactors (e.g., Compensation, Variable Pay, and Employee Central).
Utilise SuccessFactors to model and analyse compensation data, generate reports for the CHRO and wider business, and inform strategic decisions.
Lead the configuration and maintenance of the SuccessFactors system to support the new job family and salary framework as we transition from Oracle.
Payroll Management
Oversee the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing for all employees.
Work closely with finance and other departments to reconcile payroll data and budgets.
Essential Criteria
Proven experience as a senior reward professional, preferably within the transport, logistics, or a related industry.
Expertise in SAP SuccessFactors, particularly in configuring and managing the Compensation and Job Profile Builder modules.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions and manage complex compensation models.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
Knowledge of payroll processes and legislation.
Experience of working in a unionised environment across different terms and conditions
Competencies & Skills
Strategic thinking - able to horizon scan, employment law risks and issues including legislative changes and identifying workforce trends and risks that need to be addressed and propose ideas to the CHRO. Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Lead, mentor, and develop members of the payroll teams, settling clear objectives
Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on all matters of compensation and reward.
Collaborate with HR Business Partners, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure reward initiatives are understood and effectively implemented across the organization.
Engage in negotiations with trade unions or other collective bargaining bodies, as required. Commercial acumen - understands financial drivers, risk, and value creation in commercial and asset-based decisions. Influencing and communication - communicates clearly at all levels; influences with credibility and purpose.
