Job Summary


The Head of Sales & Business Development at Lampada is a critical leadership role focused on driving sustainable business growth, increasing revenue, and delivering against ambitious sales targets. The role is responsible for building and managing strategic relationships, identifying and capitalising on new opportunities, and shaping the future direction of our sales and business development activities.

This role will be instrumental in leading the development of a high-performing sales function, including building out a dedicated sales team in the future that will report directly into this position.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead the development and execution of the business development and sales strategy across multiple business units. Deliver revenue growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and market sectors. Build, lead, and grow the internal sales and business development team, ensuring appropriate structure and resources are in place to support long-term growth. Develop and implement clear plans to achieve defined sales targets and profitability goals. Track market trends, competitor activities and emerging opportunities to inform strategic direction. Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to foster long-term engagement and repeat business (including the University of Hull). Support the design and delivery of marketing campaigns and strategic events that drive sales pipeline. Respond to and create proposals, bids, RFIs and RFQs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Guide product and service development by feeding in customer insights and market intelligence. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including product, delivery and technical teams, to align business development efforts with operational capability. Act as a senior ambassador for Lampada, representing the business externally and at industry events.

Key Performance Measures:



This role is commissionable and performance will be evaluated against:

Achievement of annual and quarterly sales targets. Generation of new business and expansion into new markets. Growth and management of existing customer accounts. Successful recruitment and development of a high-performing sales team.

Reporting Line:



Reports to the Lampada Director.

Direct reports: Initially individual contributor, with responsibility to build and manage a business development team aligned to each business unit.

Person Specification:



Essential:

Proven experience in a senior sales or business development leadership role. Demonstrated track record of delivering against ambitious sales targets. Strong relationship management skills and a commercial mindset. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into actionable sales plans. Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams and complex stakeholder groups. Strong team leadership and management skills, with experience in line management, team development, and performance oversight. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growing organisation.
Desirable:

Experience working within a university spin-out Proven experience in selling software solutions, ideally within a B2B or enterprise environment. Understanding of tendering and public sector procurement processes.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 60,000.00-85,000.00 per year
