About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Head of Security
to lead and shape the organisation's security function. This is a high-impact, senior leadership position with full accountability for ensuring our security posture is robust, compliant, and aligned with UK Government, Defence, and industry regulations--including GovS007, Security Aspects Letters (SALs), and the CAA Known Consignor scheme.
As our most senior security authority, you will develop and deliver an organisation-wide security strategy, provide expert advice to the executive team, and act as the primary liaison with government and regulatory security bodies. Your leadership will help drive our mission to maintain the highest standards of security across all business operations.
The key responsibilities will include:
Provide strategic security leadership by advising senior management on security policies, contractual and legislative requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain comprehensive security policies aligned with GovS007 and the CAA Known Consignor scheme.
Lead operational security management including physical security, access control, incident response, and implementation of government Security Aspects Letters (SALs).
Identify and manage security risks, prepare for internal and external audits, and ensure ongoing compliance with security frameworks.
Oversee personnel vetting processes to meet BPSS and national security standards, managing access control systems and visit notifications.
Maintain strong relationships with external security bodies including CTSA and accreditation organizations, supporting IT security alignment.
Design and deliver security training and awareness programs to promote a security-conscious culture throughout the organisation.
Act as Security Programme Manager, ensuring all air cargo handling and facility security requirements meet CAA standards.
About the person:
DISA-accredited Security Controller qualification or willingness to train.
Senior security leadership experience in defence, aerospace, or high-security sectors.
Strong knowledge of UK security frameworks (GovS007, MoD, Known Consignor).
Experience managing security vetting (BPSS, SC, DV) and compliance audits.
Skilled in risk management, policy development, and stakeholder liaison.
Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and high integrity.
Must meet SC Security Clearance criteria.
