The role



We are recruiting for a

Head of Site

at our Newbury factory, which will report into the Operations Director.

The Bart Ingredients Newbury site produces wet ingredients (sauces/pastes/condiments etc.) for white label and private label customers. There are four main production lines and a cooking, hot and cold fill room. The site employs 45 employees with a turnover of 11m.

As part of the Senior Management Team the role is to drive manufacturing and productivity excellence. To develop strategies to improve efficiency, quality, safety and cost-effectiveness. Leading all site activities through implementing and delivering lean manufacturing practices. Ensuring all compliance and safety regulations are maintained

The Head of Site will work closely with the onsite management team and head office colleagues, and measured through KPI's, the aim is to deliver 100% service levels, achieve a positive return on labour and yield V BOM, be audit ready at all times and further develop our Great Place to Work ethics.

Main responsibilities:



Management and development of a challenging continuous improvement culture. Coaching and mentoring of all key Operations staff. Ensure that process improvement objectives, specific goals, measures and metrics are established. Work with all stakeholders in improvement projects when necessary to eliminate barriers to team success. Site lead for Health & Safety, supporting Health and Safety Manager. Provides guidance to sustain improvement changes. Remain up to date in the application of process improvement tools & techniques. Management of Newbury site costs. Site lead for Engineer department ensuring engineering excellence. Working with the site Technical Manager to ensure all food safety compliance protocols.

Person specification/Qualifications/Capabilities:



Proven leadership experience in food manufacturing or FMCG at site/Factory Manager level or equivalent. Strong knowledge of food safety and compliance to standards (BRCGS, SEDEX etc). Excellent people management and communication skills. Track record of delivering performance improvements and leading cultural change. Experience of working with major retailers an advantage. Commercial and financial acumen. Change leadership and resilience.
