Head of Strategic Projects

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is ambitious and the first of its kind worldwide. Established in 2013 from the coming together of Wales Environment Agency, Countryside Council for Wales and Forestry Commission, NRW's purpose is the sustainable management of Wales natural resources, focusing on tackling climate, nature and pollution emergencies - some of the biggest challenges facing society.

As Welsh Government's largest sponsored body, with a unique legislative remit that breaks new ground, NRW's aim is for natural resources and ecosystems to flourish along with society and the economy. The pan-Wales organisation of 2400 people, with a budget of 300m wants to leave the natural environment in a better state than it found it in and help improve the well-being and prosperity of the people of Wales.

The organisation now seeks a new Head of Strategic Projects to play a critical role in delivering this ambition. This is a senior leadership position responsible for shaping and overseeing some of their most significant programmes, including LIFE Projects, the Peatland Programme and Nature Networks. These projects are central to Wales' environmental recovery efforts and require strong strategic direction, robust governance and collaborative delivery.

Reporting to the Executive Director of National Operations, the Head of Strategic Projects will oversee a portfolio of strategic projects with a capital spend exceeding 150 million. They will manage a team of around 200 staff and work across the organisation to ensure delivery is cohesive, well-governed and aligned with NRW's corporate priorities. The appointee will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, building project delivery capability, and ensuring that programmes deliver meaningful outcomes for communities, nature and climate.

They will support the delivery of NRW's complex, challenging and far reaching strategy, working with diverse stakeholders, optimising economic prosperity and sustainably managing Wales natural resources, including woodlands and nature reserves, flood and coastal risk management, environmental regulation, Category 1 incident management, and environmental and planning monitoring and advice. They will be a champion for NRW's work and be proud to serve the people of Wales by being connected, bold, caring and resourceful.

Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru (CNC) yw'r corff cyntaf o'i fath yn y byd - ac mae'n gorff uchelgeisiol. Cafodd ei sefydlu yn 2013 drwy uno Asiantaeth yr Amgylchedd Cymru, Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru a'r Comisiwn Coedwigaeth. Amcan CNC yw rheoli adnoddau naturiol Cymru yn gynaliadwy - gan ganolbwyntio ar fynd i'r afael a'r argyfyngau hinsawdd, natur a llygredd, sef rhai o'r heriau mwyaf sy'n wynebu ein cymdeithas.

Fel y corff mwyaf a noddir gan Lywodraeth Cymru, gyda chylch gwaith deddfwriaethol unigryw sy'n torri tir newydd, nod Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru yw sicrhau bod adnoddau naturiol ac ecosystemau yn ffynnu ar y cyd a chymdeithas a'r economi. Mae hon yn swydd arweinyddiaeth lefel uwch sy'n gyfrifol am lunio a goruchwylio rhai o'n rhaglenni pwysicaf, gan gynnwys Prosiectau LIFE, y Rhaglen Mawndiroedd a Rhwydweithiau Natur. Mae'r prosiectau hyn yn ganolog i'n hymdrechion i adfer yr amgylchedd ac mae angen cyfeiriad strategol cryf, llywodraethu cadarn a chydweithio i'w cyflawni.

Gan adrodd i'r Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol, Gweithrediadau Cenedlaethol, bydd y Pennaeth Prosiectau Strategol yn goruchwylio portffolio o brosiectau strategol gyda gwariant cyfalaf o fwy na 150 miliwn. Bydd yn rheoli tim o tua 200 o staff ac yn gweithio ar draws y sefydliad i sicrhau bod y ddarpariaeth yn gydlynol, wedi'i llywodraethu'n dda ac yn cyd-fynd a blaenoriaethau corfforaethol CNC. Bydd yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus yn gyfrifol am osod y cyfeiriad strategol, meithrin gallu i gyflawni prosiectau, a sicrhau bod rhaglenni'n cyflawni canlyniadau ystyrlon i gymunedau, natur a'r hinsawdd.

Bydd deiliad y swydd yn cefnogi'r gwaith o gyflawni strategaeth gymhleth, heriol a phellgyrhaeddol CNC, gan weithio gyda rhanddeiliaid amrywiol, gwneud y gorau o ffyniant economaidd a rheoli adnoddau naturiol Cymru yn gynaliadwy - gan gynnwys coedwigoedd a choetiroedd, gwarchodfeydd natur, rheoli'r risg o lifogydd, rheoli materion arfordirol, rheoleiddio amgylcheddol, rheoli digwyddiadau Categori 1, a gwaith monitro a chynghori ar faterion amgylcheddol a chynllunio. Bydd y sawl a benodir hefyd yn eiriolwr cryf dros waith CNC ac yn falch o wasanaethu pobl Cymru drwy feithrin cysylltiadau, a bod yn feiddgar, yn ofalgar ac yn ddyfeisgar.
