Department


The Student Systems section oversees the support and development of IT systems which underpin the various stages of the student career, from admission to graduation. The section provides helpdesk and user support services via the Student Systems Support Centre, and delivers ongoing improvements ranging in size from small enhancements to major projects.

The section works closely with the Education IT Programme, one of whose aims is the continual improvement of the present suite of student systems.

About the Role


This is a key leadership role with Education Services, responsible for the strategic direction of the University's Student Record System, SITS:eVision. The post holder will line manage a team of developers and analysts, and will also steer the architectural decisions of projects and continuous improvement teams.

This is a new role, reporting to the Director of Student Systems. The post holder will be expected to become a recognised authority in delivering improvements to Student Systems, and will take ownership of the architectural decisions and development strategy.

This role is for someone who can develop both a strategic and practical approach to a technology roadmap, and who can build a team with the technical skills to deliver it.

About You


You will have extensive experience of the operational management of Tribal SITS:eVision, and experience of leading a development team. You will be able to balance the day-to-day demands of managing a development team with an interest in creating a longer-term plan for the service and for the team.
