We're looking for an ambitious Head of Technical to lead our Technical Department in the Northern Region.


In this pivotal role, you'll manage all planning, legal, design, and build aspects of residential developments across the Northern Region, working closely with internal teams and external consultants. You'll also provide specialist support on technical matters for the Midlands Region as that division continues to expand.

Your Role:

As Head of Technical, you'll be responsible for:


Managing all technical matters from land acquisition, planning and procurement through to construction and handover. Overseeing external consultants, surveys, legal agreements, and engineering/design packages. Leading on planning applications, Building Regulations compliance, and adoption processes for roads, sewers, and utilities. Producing and reviewing technical reports, viability assessments, and board reports. Advising on technical risks during land acquisitions. Coordinating with internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery. Providing ad hoc technical support to the Midlands Region. Managing and mentoring your team, ensuring high performance and professional development.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

Degree or equivalent in an engineering-related subject. Minimum 3 years in a similar senior technical role within a housebuilder. Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with Highway Design Guides. Strong knowledge of: + Sewers for Adoption and adoption processes (including bond management).
+ Building Regulations (Parts L, M & O) and NHBC procedures.
+ Ground investigations, contamination assessment, and environmental considerations.
+ Town & Country Planning procedures and planning conditions.
+ Legal processes relating to land acquisition, plot sales, and infrastructure agreements.
Demonstrated ability to estimate/manage costs, value engineer, and identify technical risks. Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between sites and regions.
