Southwark RFC is nestled between Peckham, Bermondsey and Elephant & Castle, our newly opened floodlit AWP is within touching distance of the Shard in London Bridge and gives us envious playing and training facilities. After a few seasons of flux after Covid we are searching for an ambitious and dedicated Head Coach to help us deliver on our undoubted potential.
Traditionally we are a high turnover club which mirrors London's transient nature and requires utilising large squad numbers throughout the season. The club has been working hard over the past 5 years to develop its junior element which has resulted in the creation of our own Academy. It's essential that the Head coach works closely with the Academy Director to develop a player pathway to the senior team.
The role:
Deliver engaging and beneficial training sessions twice a week throughout the season (Tuesday & Thursday evenings).
Attend all 1 XV matches, providing team warm-up and strategic decision making during the match.
Create a coherent and progressive seasonal training plan for the club.
Define a realistic and achievable game plan for the players to work towards.
Give advice and direction to individual players to help improve their overall game.
Encourage senior players to help with coaching sessions.
Provide impartial and insightful advice with team selection.
Build and develop a coaching team to aid players at all levels and abilities who fall outside of the 1 XV.
Work closely with Academy and Junior club.
Improve seasonal training attendances, make it fun, challenging and beneficial to all.
The Person:
Qualified to Level 2 or higher.
Experience of coaching and player management at level 8 and above.
Success driven, able to provide evidence of success with other teams.
Reliable and fully committed.
Enthusiastic and personable.
Able to write a seasonal coaching plan that works towards a pre-defined game plan.
