We deliver housing services on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), supporting them to deliver their housing strategy and ambitious development programme. The Role
Work remotely 3-4 days per week conducting field inspections with 1-2 days office-based for report production and administrative duties
Complete general risk assessments for properties under NPH control
Conduct health and safety inspections of contractors including groundskeeping, cleaning, and other service providers
Support the Head of Health and Safety with in-house COSHH assessments and risk assessments
Conduct near miss and accident reviews and investigations where required or when requested by management
Utilise tablet-based inspection and audit templates to conduct thorough assessments and produce detailed inspection reports
Carry out health and safety inspections of void premises where work is being undertaken to ensure compliance with safety protocols
Coordinate with the repairs booking team to identify work locations and conduct health and safety inspections of repairs teams and contractors against NPH safety standards
Deliver toolbox talks to staff and contractors to promote health and safety awareness
Maintain accurate records of all health and safety activities using digital systems
Interface professionally with tenants during property inspections, maintaining positive relationships while ensuring safety compliance
Essential Criteria
NEBOSH General Certificate
Full UK driving licence
Ability to remain neutral and objective during inspections
Flexibility to work remotely and adapt to varying site conditions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to deliver toolbox talks and training sessions
Desirable Criteria
Additional health and safety qualifications
First Aid qualification
Experience in health and safety inspection work
Knowledge of construction/property maintenance safety standards
Experience with COSHH and risk assessment procedures
Experience with accident investigation procedures
Knowledge of incident reporting and analysis
