H&S Advisor - Part Time

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and curious individual to improve our health and safety at Curious Brewery in Ashford, Kent.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an individual with a background in health and safety for a part-time (1 - 3 days/week) role.

The candidate will:

- Own, review, and implement H&S working policies and procedures.

- Evaluate, update, and expand risk assessment documentation.

- Evaluate, update, and expand COSHH assessments.

- Organize and facilitate H&S training for the team (via both internal & external providers).

- Work with our H&S consultant to improve safe working conditions.

- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses. Perform root-cause analysis and advise improvements to prevent re-occurrence.

- Monitor compliance utilizing data capture and internal auditing.

- Ensure record-keeping is maintained and filled out.

- Review and advise on production processes to help improve site standards.

- Ensure and review suitability of PPE in use.

- Keep the business up to date on H&S legislation and ensure policy is fit for purpose.

- Identify H&S gaps and help coordinate projects to resolve and improve them.

- Manage occupational health services.

- Liaise with area managers on compliance and best practice.

This role reports to the site Head of Production. We aim to develop and improve our health and safety standards and this role is critical to the implementation of business goals. This role has no direct reports, but will need to work closely with area managers to implement improvement projects and uphold standards.

There will also be opportunity to learn and support other areas of the business. We are a small, but growing team and successful individuals will have a proven track record of problem-solving and doing whatever it takes to hit targets.

Requirements

You will have a documented H&S accreditation at some level (IOSH, NEBOSH, etc.) and ideally at least 1 years' experience in a H&S advisor/executive role.

This is a part-time role. We are ideally looking for someone 1 - 3 days/week. Because of this, the role is suited either towards a retired professional looking for part-time work, a professional looking for reduced hours, or someone just starting out in their H&S career.

Experience in food, manufacturing, or logistics is an added bonus.

You'll be confident, motivated, and willing to improve the safety of the team. Good communication skills are essential as we believe that strong communication makes a workday go smoothly.

What We Offer

Our starting package is competitive for the Southeast dependent upon experience. Salary is dependent upon experience level and working days.

On top of this we also offer enrollment into accredited training courses in brewing, beer serving, packaging, health and safety, forklift driving, first aid, and can find courses to suit whatever skills you are curious about and the business needs.

Based at our brewery in Ashford, we operate Monday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 22:00 p.m. but may need to expand these hours as the business grows. This role is 09:00 to 17:00, but the successful candidate will need to be flexible within operating hours to help support the needs of the entire team.

We also offer a 25% discount in our restaurant and bar, enrolment in our pension scheme, and we always enjoy a few beers after work or to take home! We offer the pro-rata equivalent of 25 days' holiday (plus bank holidays).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 10,000.00-20,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 8 - 24 per week
