Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and committed Health & Safety Coordinator to support the effective delivery of health and safety across our Stevenage site. Working closely with the UK Health & Safety Manager and the wider Flamingo UK H&S Team, this role plays a key part in embedding safe working practices, ensuring legal compliance and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

This is a hands-on, site-based role offering the opportunity to work closely with operational teams, influence positive behaviours and contribute to a strong, proactive safety culture within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Culture & Engagement



Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and employee engagement activities Encourage near-miss reporting and proactive hazard identification Work closely with managers, supervisors and operatives to embed safe systems of work

Compliance



Support the maintenance and ongoing development of the UK SHE Management System Prepare, review and update risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOWs) Support audits, inspections and customer compliance visits Lead local safety meetings and support KPI, incident and corrective action reviews

Accident & Incident Reduction



Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe acts, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions Support trend analysis and performance reporting in collaboration with the H&S Team Monitor the effectiveness of control measures and update risk assessments accordingly

Training & Development



Coordinate health and safety training, inductions and refresher programmes Support teams with dynamic risk assessment and safe decision-making Share best practice across sites in collaboration with the wider H&S team

Site & Contractor Safety



Support site-based safety improvement initiatives Work closely with Engineering and contractors to ensure safe systems of work, inductions and permit-to-work controls are being carried out Support environmental and sustainability data collection where required

Cross Site Collaboration



Work collaboratively with H&S Manager and Health & Safety Coordinators Participate in cross-site safety meetings and initiatives Align site activity with the wider UK Health & Safety strategy
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within manufacturing, logistics or operational environments NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation Proven experience completing risk assessments and developing Safe Systems of Work Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage, influence and challenge at all levels Organised, proactive and detail-focused with a passion for safety improvement Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating within a wider H&S team Proficient in Microsoft Office Full UK driving licence
